Who we are
The history of Piombaia arises from the union of the Rossi and Cantini families. In the first half of the twentieth century, two farmers: Mario Rossi and his wife Carolina, privately managed part of the Pecci farm, the noble and ancient family of Carolina. This is how the entrepreneurial activity began, later it was enriched thanks to the contribution of the Cantini family. Especially when a Pisan farmer Vittorio Cantini, marries Lida, Carolina and Mario’s daughter, they bought other land including the Piombaia farm.
Upon Vittorio’s untimely death, Lida’s brother Remo, who was on his way to take his vows, gave her advice and supported her running the company. The structure where the farmhouse was built today was purchased in the 1980s, at the same time as the Brunello wine boom. Later Lida and Vittorio’s son Roberto made the next leap in quality by launching the company in a modern entrepreneurial perspective, also developing in the agritourism sense with the renovation of one of the most beautiful farmhouses in the territory of Montalcino: La Crocina. Roberto, born in 1950, (in the photo above together with his mother – grandmother Lida – and her three children) despite his work in the bank, managed the family business for a long time until he leaves it in the hands of his sons Vittorio, Francesco and Cecilia and becoming the owner who, together with their mother Stefania, supervises the work carried out by their children.

A Family matter
VITTORIO CANTINI
Vittorio was born in Montalcino in 1973 under the Leo sign and the Sagittarius ascendant which gives him the ability to lead with the sensitivity of sharing and the taste for beauty. He is married to Marta, a yoga and meditation teacher, and together they have two children Federico and Alice Viola. The sense of belonging to family and properties and the ability to get involved led him to devote himself to the management of the farm in addition to the technical and daily management of the farm. He recently started a new path dedicating himself to the study of Naturopathy, with the aim of further evolving the sensitivity and quality of the company.
FRANCESCO CANTINI
Francesco was born in Montalcino in 1982, Leo with the ascendant in Aquarius which gives him the artistic sense, the desire to improve the world, and a strong attachment to nature. He is engaged to Chiara who shares their love for animals and for the outdoor spaces. He studied agriculture and followed the agricultural part and production since 2009; always passionate about alternative and sustainable methods, he brings the biodynamics to the company. It is the passion that guides him treating his wine as a living creature. He has always been a sensitive person since he was a boy, he has always had a strong attraction for everything related to nature and its forming forces.
CECILIA CANTINI
Cecilia was born in Montalcino in 1984, Gemini ascendant in Gemini; she is bright, talkative, full of energy and desire to do things, she has an extraordinary ability to socialize. She had studied yoga, and now she practices and teaches it. She is married to Robin, the owner of a winery in Chianti, and together they have two children Stella Elisa and Teseo. At the company she was in charge for communication and tastings and she assisted Vittorio in the management of the agritourism, but now she is a full-time mother and she follows Piombaia’s life from a distance.

MAURIZIO GIANNELLI
He is also known as Ghesio, he was born in Buonconvento in 1964, under the cancer sign. He is passionate about music, after having worked for many years as a graphic designer in 2015 he arrives at Piombaia. In addition to his flair for creativity he uses it in the designing labels and his organizational skills; indeed he deals with logistics business and he manages the cellar, orders, shipments and he deals with couriers.
AMBRA VEGNI
She was born in Siena in 1987, Sagittarian ascending in Pisces, she is optimistic, intuitive, sociable and creative. She is graduated in Communications science and she joined the PIombaia’s family in 2020, today she is in charge with sales and communication department.
ALMUDENA PRIETO
We simply call her Alma! She was born in Spain in 1988, cancer ascending in libra which is why she is accurate, judicious and reliable. She is our daily point of reference for us: wine lover and he takes care about his French bulldog Gino. Since 2017 he takes care about the secretariat and the administration of Piombaia.
ALESSANDRO PECCI
Alessandro was born in Montalcino in 1986, ergine ascendant Aries is a perfect mix combining instinct and rationality, energy and prudence. Precise and reliable, he plans the work in the vineyard and is a point of reference for the entire team. He has been working at Piombaia since 2023.
RENZO ARMANDO BURLANDO
He was born in Cile in 1985, Taurus ascending in Taurus, at work he is a real and tireless person. He is generous and always smiling. He has been at Piombaia since 2015 and he is in charge with our Botanical Garden.
FEDERICO CANTINI
He is Vittorio and Marta’s son; he has been taking care about the vineyard since 2019*. He was born In Siena in 2000, Aquarius ascending in Scorpio, he is very emotional, funny ad altruist.
AGRON SIKAJ
He has been working at Piombaia since 2019, he was born in Albania in 1970, Leo, which makes him by nature the leader. Indeed, at Piombaia he is the team leader of the vineyards works.
